I’ve written several critiques of Biden in the present campaign season; my first one was back in August. They tend to run a bit long (though never as long as this one), which cuts down on the number of people who read them, but it’s a big subject. Put together, they’d be a book but they still don’t cover it all.

My assumption, going into the contest, was that it was virtually impossible that Biden would ever become the Democratic nominee. His record, particularly at this moment in history, would sink him like a stone. I severely underestimated the willingness of the corporate press to essentially bury that record, which, in a way, is personally refreshing; it means that no matter how old and cynical I’ve gotten, it’s still difficult to keep up. Trump and the Republicans won’t allow Biden’s record to remain under that rug where it’s been swept.
